About Us

I’m Siri (yep, I get it all the time), and this is my best friend and kitty soulmate Norma Jeane. Our fates collided one wintery day in February 2007, when Norma sought shelter in my Uncle Tim’s garage, and we’ve been together ever since – 17 years now!

I’ve always had a dream of owning “a funky store”, but it was more just a daydream I used as a creative outlet… and then I got laid off, and suddenly had the time and space to make Norma’s Five and Dime come to life. And so it is!

Vision

Gift giving is my love language. I love that feeling of finding the perfect thing for someone that you know is going to bring them joy and make them feel seen; even if you don’t watch them open it, you just know your gift brightened their day. But I sometimes feel guilty just buying things… consumerism runs rampant, businesses have some questionable practices, convenience is often costly even if it doesn’t cost you extra money (plastic, work ethics, waste). There are also times I can envision what I want for someone, but just can’t seem to find it… so why not create them for myself? Maybe other people are looking for the same thing?

But then also, what if gifts could do more than bring joy at the individual level? What if the gifts themselves helped the greater community? Not only are our collections of gifts thoughtfully sourced, but 20% of all profits are donated to The Homeless Alliance, a non-profit organization in OKC!
